Making Patterns

In maths we have been learning how to make different patterns.

"This is my pattern.  It goes yellow, red, yellow red."

Story Writing

I have been learning to sound out new words when writing.  This is the next step in writing independently.

Ambury Farm

We went on a trip to Ambury Farm.  We saw some animals and we got to feed them.  The animals gave us kisses on our hands when we were feeding them.  Ranger Meredith showed us how they get rid of sheep dags (which we learnt was dry poo).  Then we watched as a cow was being milked.

"This is me coming down the sheep chute.  It was fun!"

Soccer Skills Workshop

We had a soccer workshop.  We went out on the field and played lots of games.  We got to kick the ball around.

"I am frozen like a statue."

Retelling a Story

We are learning to retell a story that we have read.  This is a story we read during our guided reading lesson.

"It was about climbing on stuff like a slide and a wall."

Self Portrait

We have been learning to make good colour choices.

First we drew a picture of our faces, then we chose colours to match our faces and coloured in our picture.  We then glued the face onto another piece of paper that we dyed the day before.  Next we coloured in a piece of paper for our hair and cut it out.  The last thing we did was glue the hair onto our picture.

"I found it tricky to glue the hair on and it was easy to cut the hair out."

Maths

We are learning to recognise numbers to 10.

"This is number 4."

Storywriting

We have been learning to make our pictures match our story.

"This is my brother, he is playing games."

Reading Strategies

We are learning to read in the right direction.  To practise we read books every day.

"I start reading here and I stop here."
